Dune Remote R3 Firmware
Bluetooth remote "Dune Remote R3" has a firmware which can be updated
over-the-air (OTA). This possibility is supported by Dune HD media players
based on S905X3 and RTD1619/RTD1619DR media processors when using r20+
firmware versions. The media player can automatically check the version of
the firmware in the remote and install the update if needed, and allows the
user to manually do it using "Setup / Misc / Remote" menu.
Normally, the media player handles everything automatically and you do
not need to install firmware updates into the remote manually.
Manual installation of firmware into the remote from a file
If for some reason you need to manually install (or reinstall) the
firmware into the remote from a file, you can do it using the following
steps:
- Use a Dune HD media player based on S905X3 or RTD1619/RTD169DR media
processor.
- Ensure the latest r20 or r21+ firmware version is installed in the media player.
- Ensure your R3 remote, you want to update the firmware for, is paired
to the media player.
- Use exactly this R3 remote for controlling the media player.
- Unpair all other Bluetooth remotes from the media player, using "Setup
/ System / Remotes and accessories" menu.
- Download the proper firmware file for your revision of R3
remote. There are two revisions of R3 remote (2021 and 2022), each
revision uses its own gyroscope chip. If a firmware for wrong revision
is installed, AirMouse function does not work (other functions of the
remote work). To determine the revision of the remote, you can check the
firmware version of the remote:
- Revision of the remote "2021": This revision of the remote uses firmware versions
21xxxx_xxxx.
- Revision of the remote "2022": This revision of the remote uses firmware
versions 22xxxx_xxxx. All latest batches of R3 remotes are of
this revision.
- Put the downloaded firmware file into the root of a USB flash drive,
and rename it to "rcu_firmware.bin".
- Connect the USB flash drive to the media player.
- Go to "Setup / Misc / Remote" menu and choose your R3 remote.
- Press "8" button on the remote. The firmware from the file will be installed into the remote.
